Terms of service.

Please take a moment to carefully read and familiarise yourself with the terms of service below before taking part in our events.

Cancellations & refunds

We request a full payment before any event. Any cancellations must be in writing via e-mail. We provide an 80% refund if you cancel the booking anytime up to 14 days before the scheduled event. You will also be given the option of transferring your booking to another event free of charge.

If you cancel anytime within 14 days of the scheduled event, no refund is provided but you will be given the option to transfer your booking to another event, free of charge.

No refunds or transfers are given to those who fail to show up to an event. Our events start on time and latecomers are not eligible for refunds or transfers.

Our events go ahead in the vast majority of weather conditions including wet and windy weather, unless extreme weather would compromise the safety and smooth running of the event. In that case the event will be cancelled and you will be given the option of transferring your booking to another event or receive a full refund.

Safety

We will make every effort to ensure the safety of participants to our events. Nature Tales & Trails recognises that outdoor activities such as lowland walking, hill walking and mountaineering carry a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

Some walks and hikes are strenuous and require a good level of fitness. If you are in any doubt about your health or ability to take part please consult your doctor.

By taking part in events, participants agree to follow the instructions of the leader and comply with any health and safety requirements as directed by the leader. Participants must not take part in guided walks and hikes under the influence of alcohol or drugs and anyone believed to be intoxicated will not be allowed to take part in any activity and turned away.

The leader may alter the day's itinerary at their own discretion to ensure the safety, wellbeing and welfare of the group. This is not grounds for refunds. The leader may choose to exclude any participant from the activity who does not comply with health and safety instructions or on health or fitness grounds. The leader may also exclude someone from the event if they believe they may jeopardise the safety of the rest of the group.

Nature Tales & Trails is insured for public liability. Our insurance does not cover any personal accident incurred by any client, and we recommend that you take out personal accident insurance.

Medical conditions

If you have any medical conditions, are on prescribed medication, or have any concerns, please, see your GP and inform them about attending one of our events. If you currently experience or have a history of serious health issues (including mental health issues, operations, medical procedures, seizures, implants, special needs, etc.), please let us know so we can look after you properly. If you have any allergies, please let us know.

Personal equipment and clothing

All our outdoor events require you to bring waterproof clothing, including a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, and suitable walking/hiking boots. Some of our walks are only possible with hiking boots, and trainers/gym footwear are not suitable. Instructions will be given before the event you have booked as to what footwear you need and any other equipment requirements. Unfortunately, failure to have appropriate footwear may result in us having to turn people away on the day, and, in this event, no refund will be given. If you are in any doubt about equipment, please get in touch with us via email.

Photographs

We will occasionally use photographs taken during events in promotional material, on our website, and on social media. If you do not wish your picture to be used in this way please just let us know at any point before or during the event.

Leave no Trace

All of our events follow strict Leave no Trace principles. In some of our events, we also do not allow single-use plastics in line with National Park guidelines. For further information on Leave no Trace, see https://www.leavenotraceireland.org/.

Data Protection

The personal information requested by us at the time of booking plus any subsequent information is held in its original form on our computers. The information is required to assist the company, employees and sub-contractors to deliver the events. By providing us with the information to process your booking you are agreeing that the information can be kept and accessed by authorised company personnel. Contact details will be used to advise you of future offers either by post or email. If you do not wish to receive future mailings just let us know.

Pets

Pets are unfortunately not allowed at most of our events either because of Nature Reserve policies or because of possible negative impacts on wildlife and livestock, but we offer some dog-friendly walks provided dogs are on a leash at all times. Do ask us about these options.
