This event is open to children and adults - please note there will be some uneven surfaces to walk over.
Booking essential! Spaces limited. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Please familiarise yourself with our Terms of Service before booking: https://naturetalesandtrails.ie/terms-of-service
PLEASE NOTE: There will be two walks, one at 12.30-2pm and another at 2.30-4pm. Please choose your preferred time at checkout. Details of the start location will be emailed to you before the event (watch out for an email from naturetalesandtrails@gmail.com the week before the walk!)

Past reviews:
“Anthea and Koen were wonderful guides, making millions of years of geology accessible for our varied group (which ranged from toddlers to teens to parents). Both guides are very knowledgeable and engaging, and their enthusiasm for the subject shines through. They were very kind and patient with our youngest members, identifying their finds (and many, many shells!). We never knew we could spot so many fossils (thousands!) in just a few minutes walk along one of Dublin’s most beautiful beaches. Highly recommended!” Kitty H, Google Review
“It’s amazing what you can discover with a little guidance in the right direction. I didn’t realise it was so easy to find fossils of sea creatures from 300 million years ago in the rocks on the Irish coastline. Anthea guided us to discover these beautiful traces from ancient times for ourselves, at Portmarnock beach. She answered all our questions fully and used illustrations to give us a sense of the big picture, including pictures of Ireland’s two dinosaurs, each created from a single bone found at the coast. In a couple of cases, she showed us modern-day shells of the creatures we were looking at in the rock. A lovely way to capture Deep Time! There were brachiopods, bryozoans, crinoids, nautiloids, sea snails, and colonial corals that were very striking. I could almost see them waving in those ancient seas. Highly recommended in every way.” P. Murray, 2026, Google review
"We had a very enjoyable & informative walk along the beach in Portmarnock with Anthea on Sunday. She opened our eyes to the fossils in the rocks which we had never noticed before. Anthea patiently explained how it came about & what to look for. A young member in the group became an "expert" at spotting beautiful examples in the rocks. We are looking forward to joining her on future walks." Peter Curran, Facebook review
