“It’s amazing what you can discover with a little guidance in the right direction. I didn’t realise it was so easy to find fossils of sea creatures from 300 million years ago in the rocks on the Irish coastline.
Anthea guided us to discover these beautiful traces from ancient times for ourselves, at Portmarnock beach. She answered all our questions fully and used illustrations to give us a sense of the big picture, including pictures of Ireland’s two dinosaurs, each created from a single bone found at the coast. In a couple of cases, she showed us modern-day shells of the creatures we were looking at in the rock. A lovely way to capture Deep Time! There were brachiopods, bryozoans, crinoids, nautiloids, sea snails, and colonial corals that were very striking. I could almost see them waving in those ancient seas.
