Slow-Paced Nature Hike, Trooperstown Hill, Wicklow, 27 September

from €20.00

This is a slow-paced hike along one of Wicklow's lesser-known trails, through woodland and open hillside, with wide ranging views over the Wicklow mountains, from Glendalough, to Lugnaquilla, to the Sugarloaf, to the sea. September is a wonderful time to be out in the hills, with mild temperatures, quiet trails, and the pink colours of heather mixing with early autumn golden hues.

Guided by Anthea (Nature Tales & Trails), geologist, writer and mountain leader, and Kamila (Nature to Go), botanist, forest bathing guide and lowland leader, this is a hike for anyone wishing to get outdoors on the trails without feeling rushed. Feel fully supported as we will take in forest, slopes and summit of Trooperstown Hill, and learn about nature and landscape along the way.

No hiking experience necessary, just the ability to walk for 8 km with 300m of ascent, at your own pace.

This is a collaboration between Nature Tales & Trails and Nature to Go!

🌿 Seasonal flowers and plants: discover woodland plants and upland wildflowers, including heather, bilberry, and milkwort

What people are saying about our events:

“A truly wonderful experience. I joined the Nature Tales and Trials biodiversity walk today and it was absolutely brilliant. Anthea and Kamila were both exceptional guides. knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the natural world. Highly recommend it 😊” Ananya S. Biodiversity Hike Google Review (2026)

“Lovely hike with engaging and knowledgeable guides in a beautiful setting- great vibes all around! Highly recommend :)” - Biodiversity Hike Google Review, Valerie G. (2026)

I have been on 2-3 hikes that Anthea has lead, and each time she was friendly, warm and welcoming. Her knowledge of fossils, birdsongs and moss is inspiring and if you are looking to go on a hike where you'll be met with encouragement as you venture through trails, along with curiosity to learn about what it is you're seeing and hearing in the Irish landscapes - then I cannot recommend Anthea enough!” Andrea - Google Review

“What a lovely morning exploring our native trees. Kamila really knows her stuff and was a pleasure.” Carol, Google Review
